Our History

IMG_0857.jpg

Our story began in Mexico, in 1967. Founder Steve Troy discovered his passion in the appropriate technology field in 1966 while he was in a Peace Corp-type of program in Mexico. This led to a long road of numerous projects and the birth of several companies, which is how Sustainable Village came to be. At the beginning of 2001, after decades of International poverty alleviation work, we began our focus on the world's most crucial resource: water.

Our mission

Steve Troy, founder of Sustainable Village in Mexico, 1967.

Through our success in business, we hope to use our platform as a means to supply communities around the world with the tools and knowledge they need to support and nourish themselves. Armed with this ability, we hope those communities will go on to help their neighbors flourish in the same ways.

Our vision

Sustainable Village dreams of a future where no inputs are wasted in irrigating crops. A future where big agriculture uses only the water their plants need. We envision a world where people have the tools to provide food for their communities, even when faced with limited resources.

When people source their food locally, they feel a connection to the land on which they live, and an appreciation for those who tended it. As a keystone species in the organism of Earth, we are fated to affect the planet.
